Job summary

Alpaca is seeking an Analytics Engineer to own the data transformation layer within our cloud-native data platform. You will build robust data models using dbt and SQL, processing hundreds of millions of events daily from sources like transactional databases, API logs, CRMs, and marketing platforms.

You'll collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and business users, delivering reliable data products through BI reports and reverse ETL.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in analytics or data engineering focusing on ELT transformations.
• Proven end-to-end ownership of data products with quality and scalability.
• Ability to work with ambiguity and partner with stakeholders to define requirements.
• Experience improving data warehouse performance and ETL efficiency.
• Technical: SQL, dbt, Python; SQL optimization; cloud experience (GCP/AWS).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data models using dbt and SQL.
• Establish standards for data modelling, testing, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with finance, operations, and marketing to deliver reliable data products.
• Integrate data models with BI tools and reverse ETL processes.
• Uphold code reviews, source control, and data monitoring as products evolve.
