Job summary

Toptal is a global, fully remote network of talent across business, design, and technology. This Data Analytics Engineer role owns and maintains the data transformation layer, ensures governance, and builds AI-enabled data systems and pipelines.

You will be the product owner for our data warehouse, coordinating with Business Analysts and Data Engineers while living SQL daily. We expect 4+ years shipping production data models, strong SQL and Python, and experience with cloud warehouses and AI

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
• 4+ years shipping production data models in analytics/engineering roles.
• Fluent SQL and working knowledge of Python.
• Experience with large language models and agentic coding tools.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses (BigQuery/Snowflake).
• Knowledge of modern transformation frameworks (dbt, Dataform, SQLMesh).
• Git, CI/CD, and code review practices.
• Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship SQL models transforming raw data into usable data products.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to add and publish data sources in the warehouse.
• Monitor data quality and reliability across the data platform.
• Translate business asks into modeled data with clear governance rules.
• Improve data quality, lineage, and access controls.
• Own data dictionary documentation for AI and humans.
• Review teammates' code to maintain production hygiene.
• Work with Analysts, Data Scientists, and stakeholders to enable data-driven decisions.
• Help improve team tooling, playbooks, and processes.
