Job summary

Backbase is seeking a Senior AI Applied Software Engineer to join the Onboarding & Origination value stream in the R&D department. You will design and build scalable systems for customer onboarding in banking, influencing millions of users across many institutions.

You will lead SDLC ownership, mentor engineers, and push forward AI-powered features leveraging OpenAI and ML models, with a strong emphasis on security, performance, and reliability.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of professional experience building complex, high-traffic products.
• Proficient in Java, Spring JPA/Hibernate, and Maven.
• Experience with Microservices and Cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver complex features across backend and frontend.
• Own the full SDLC from idea to release and maintenance.
• Improve architecture and API/microservice integration.
• Mentor juniors and perform code reviews.
• Contribute to AI features using OpenAI and ML models.
• Maintain security, scalability, and performance.
