Job summary

ABB is seeking a Senior AI Engineer – Agentic Systems to unlock agentic AI capabilities across our ELSE digital services and turn them into real customer value. Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of experience in software engineering, including designing and delivering enterprise-grade backend and cloud-based solutions.
• 2-3+ years of hands-on experience building AI-powered applications, LLM-integrated systems, or agent-based workflows in production environments.
• Strong backend engineering skills, ideally in C#/.NET, with Python as a strong plus.
• Strong experience with APIs, Git, CI/CD, cloud deployment, and secure enterprise integration.
• Experience with agent evaluation, testing, verification, RAG, memory patterns, context management, and agent control mechanisms.
• Experience monitoring and optimizing AI systems for reliability, performance, and cost.
• Understanding Microsoft enterprise security, compliance, and identity patterns, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams and mentor colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Build, integrate, and operate production-grade AI agents and agentic workflows.
• Move beyond pilots to secure, enterprise-ready solutions.
• Enable agent orchestration and tool integration across enterprise platforms.
• Define patterns for tool use, memory, orchestration, and workflow execution.
• Create evaluation approaches to ensure agent quality, safety, and performance.
• Implement human approval flows, fallback mechanisms, and guardrails.
• Ensure production readiness through testing, monitoring, deployment automation, and controlled releases.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, data engineers, and software teams.
