Job summary

Sopra Steria is seeking a hands-on Associate Engineer (Robotics student) to support development, integration and testing of robotic systems and software in Katowice, Poland. You will participate in hardware/software integration, prototype building, and lab testing while collaborating with project teams and customers.

The role emphasizes configuration, incident resolution, and user support, with opportunities to grow in an international environment.

Qualifications

• Student in Robotics (must be enrolled)
• Knowledge of MAVLink protocol
• Understanding of network and serial communication protocols (UART, UDP, TCP, I2C)
• Programming skills in C++ and Python
• Familiarity with MAVSDK or PyMAVLink libraries for integration
• Basic to intermediate ROS/ROS2 knowledge
• Basic to intermediate Linux (Ubuntu) knowledge
• Basic electronics and soldering knowledge
• Experience with sensors such as IMU, GPS, LiDAR, Cameras
• Knowledge of robotic system architecture (Companion Computers, Flight/Drive Controllers)
• Knowledge of closed-loop control systems and PID controllers
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and interpret technical docs
• Willingness for prototyping, lab and field tests
• Good English for reading docs

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software and system components.
• Configure software, hardware, and networks.
• Assist in incident analysis and troubleshooting.
• Develop and execute software tests, including unit tests.
• Verify reliability through testing in various environments.
• Operate and monitor systems; assist production releases.
• Build and test prototypes; validate solutions in test beds.
• Train users and provide user support.
• Participate in internal and customer meetings.
• Flag customer needs; escalate issues when needed.
• Follow established processes and security requirements.
• Manage tasks and prioritize work; provide progress updates.
• Suggest technical improvements and process enhancements.
• Participate in team trainings and methodologies.
