Job summary

IS-Wireless Training in Poland seeks a researcher-engineer to develop disaggregated RAN, security/Zero Trust, and RRM algorithms, possibly using L1/L2/L3 emulators, with cloud-native Kubernetes. You will design and implement xApp/rApp applications for the ecosystem using RIC API and E2/R2 interfaces.

Qualifications

• Strong Python prototyping and AI/ML skills; Java/C/C++ knowledge is a plus.
• Solid understanding of 5G/6G architecture.
• Experience with cloud-native environments: Kubernetes, CI/CD.
• Fundamental security knowledge: Zero Trust, TLS/PKI, IPSec.
• Ability to rapidly prototype and work with 3GPP specs/docs.
• Excellent English communication.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and prototype innovative algorithms for disaggregated RAN, security/Zero Trust, and Radio Resource Management (RRM). Potentially with the use of L1/L2/L3 emulators (commercial ones as well).
• Design and implement xApp/rApp applications for the ecosystem using RIC API and E2/R2 interfaces.
• Deploy AI/ML-driven solutions for network optimization (e.g. based on reinforcement learning, swarm optimization or similar
• Work with cloud-native technologies (Kubernetes) to deploy and scale network applications.
• Collaborate on research projects that may lead to patent applications (and/or papers).
• Integrate selected security solutions e.g. encryption (TLS/PKI, IPSec), Zero Trust architectures.

Requirements

• Strong programming skills in Python (prototyping, AI/ML) - JAVA or C/C++ knowledge will be a plus.
• Good understanding of 5G/6G architecture
• Experience working in cloud-native environments: Kubernetes, CI/CD.
• Basic knowledge of security principles (e.g. Zero Trust, TLS/PKI, IPSec).
• Ability to rapidly prototype solutions and work with technical documentation (3GPP).
• Good command of English.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience in Radio Resource Management (scheduling, interference management, load balancing).
• Hands-on experience creating xApp/rApp applications (RIC SDK, E2/R1 interface).
• Practical AI/ML experience: reinforcement learning, anomaly detection.
• Knowledge of libraries and HW suitable for fronthaul/midhaul optimization (eCPRI, DPDK, eBPF, SmartNIC/GPU).
• Experience in MLOps (deploying AI models in telecom environments).
• Familiarity with network simulators: MATLAB, ns-3.
• R&D experience (publications, patents).
