Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Software Engineer II to join the Network Operations Systems Group. You will contribute to high-availability distributed systems that power Akamai’s global network, collaborating with international teams on web and console interfaces.

You will analyze, design, and implement reliable software, support the full product life cycle, and mentor junior engineers while evaluating new trends in network operations and automation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of development experience on Linux/Unix.
• At least 2 years' experience with Python, Go and/or shell scripting.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS and TLS/SSL.
• Experience with Git and Perforce version control systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, and implement high availability systems software.
• Support the full product life cycle from ideation to operation.
• Improve test, deployment, monitoring and maintenance capabilities of software systems.
• Mentor less experienced engineers to ensure quality solutions.
• Evaluate emerging trends in network operations and automation.
