Akamai seeks a Performance Engineer II to help optimize global traffic flows, allocate capacity across products and regions, and improve latency and reliability. You will work across teams on measurement, dashboards, alerting, and automation to reduce toil and drive data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related engineering field.
• Experience with Python, Go, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
• Fluency with Linux CLI/shell and understanding of Linux/Unix internals.
• Experience developing SQL queries for analysis, troubleshooting, and reporting.
• Background in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or related role.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging platforms (Grafana, Prometheus).

Responsibilities

• Improve Akamai's content delivery products through cross-functional collaboration and data-driven decisions.
• Respond to escalations for capacity impact evaluation.
• Design strategies to allocate Akamai's global capacity across products to balance efficiency, resilience, and customer experience.
• Engineer global traffic policies to improve latency, availability, and resource utilization.
• Automate operational tasks and build frameworks to reduce toil.
• Collaborate with engineering and SRE teams to build scalable, resilient systems and troubleshoot performance issues across services, networks, and regions.
• Implement and optimize monitoring, alerting, logging, and analytics to proactively detect and mitigate issues.
