Job summary

SecureFlag is a London-based company delivering an innovative platform for developers to learn and practice secure coding. As a Senior Java Developer, you will design and develop the backend, maintaining and extending a complex Java microservice architecture.

The role emphasizes AWS cloud usage, SQL integration, and a DevOps mindset. You will work remotely with occasional London/events, contributing to security posture for numerous organizations and developers.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in developing complex Java applications.
• In-depth knowledge of Hibernate with troubleshooting skills for performance bottlenecks.
• Experience with microservices architecture and scalable Java applications.
• Ability to identify code areas for improvement and implement new functionalities.
• Familiarity with development tools such as Git, Docker, and CI pipelines.
• Experience with Amazon ECS and AWS cloud services.
• Experience implementing automated testing is a plus.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; good time management.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop the SecureFlag backend platform.
• Maintain and enhance the existing platform.
• Develop and maintain automated tests and CI pipelines.
• Collaborate closely with the engineering team.
• Track, reproduce, troubleshoot, and provide logical solutions to issues.
• Operate in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, small team environment.
• Familiarize with application security industry best practices and SecureFlag's mission to inspire learning engagement.
