Job summary

Sowelo Consulting is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own end-to-end Databricks pipelines using Python, SQL, and modern cloud stacks. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable data solutions to power AI and analytics for clients and internal teams, with a focus on reliable, cost-efficient cloud architectures.

This 100% remote role serves customers in the US Eastern time zone, offering collaboration with cross-functional teams and opportunities to work across Azure, AWS, and similar

Qualifications

• 4+ years hands-on data engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL; Scala is a nice-to-have.
• Experience designing and maintaining data pipelines within the Databricks ecosystem.
• Working knowledge of public cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Higher education in Computer Science, STEM, or equivalent real-world technical experience.
• Strong focus on code quality, testing, and maintainable software.
• Excellent communication skills for remote-first collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable Databricks data pipelines.
• Develop ETL/ELT processes using Databricks, Python, and SQL.
• Optimize data workflows for performance, reliability and cost-efficiency in cloud environments.
• Support data models, tables and integrations on cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Collaborate with data analysts and scientists to provide clean, accessible data.
• Monitor pipelines, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to internal docs and best practices.
