Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Performance Engineer II to join the Mapping Strategy team in Krakow. You will help design and optimize global traffic flows, improve capacity planning across products, and enhance observability and automation while reducing toil for operations teams.

You will work with Python, Go, Bash and Linux, developing SQL-driven analytics, and collaborating with SRE/DevOps to ensure highly available, scalable systems across services, networks and regions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related engineering field.
• Experience with Python, Go, Bash or similar scripting languages.
• Fluency with Linux CLI and deep Linux/Unix internals knowledge; expertise with the network protocol stack, distributed systems, and systems design.
• Experience developing SQL queries for trend analysis, troubleshooting, reporting.
• Experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or related role.
• Fluent in monitoring, alerting, and logging platforms (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus).

Responsibilities

• Improve Akamai's content delivery products through cross-functional collaboration and data-driven decisions.
• Respond to escalations for capacity impact evaluation.
• Design strategies for allocating global capacity across products to balance efficiency, resilience and customer experience.
• Engineer global traffic policies to improve latency, availability and resource utilization.
• Automate operational tasks and build frameworks to reduce toil.
• Collaborate with engineering and SRE teams to build scalable, resilient systems and troubleshoot performance issues.
• Implement and optimize monitoring, alerting, logging, and analytics to proactively detect and mitigate issues.
