Job summary

Whatnot is hiring for a seasoned Software Engineer to redesign and own the Observability platform as part of the Infrastructure Reliability Engineering team. You will ensure visibility into state, performance, reliability and user experience at scale.

You will work across Core Infra, Platform and Developer Tools, integrating data from code to visualization, aiming for 10x-100x improvements in observability and incident response, including AI-assisted troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems.
• You identify as a software engineer first and want to build systems and write code, not just configure infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of observability principles, metrics, logs, events and traces.

Responsibilities

• Design and redesign observability for a globally scaled software stack.
• Collaborate with Core Infra, Platform and Developer Tools to implement data collection, normalization, routing, processing, querying and visualization.
• Leverage analytics engines and vendors to predict incidents and provide swift resolutions; utilize AI agents in troubleshooting.
