Job summary

SoftwareOne is seeking a Regional General Counsel for the Central & Eastern Europe region to lead the legal function across multiple jurisdictions. You will work with regional leadership to provide practical, risk-based guidance and ensure governance, compliance, and ethical business conduct.

The role requires senior in-house experience with deep knowledge of commercial contracting, data privacy, AI regulation, and corporate governance, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive

Qualifications

• Full qualification as a lawyer in a CEE jurisdiction and substantial post-qualification experience.
• Experience leading legal teams in international businesses and navigating cross-border contracts.
• Strong understanding of data privacy, AI regulation, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the CEE legal function and regional legal team.
• Advise regional management on strategic initiatives and business growth opportunities.
• Review, negotiate, and structure complex customer, vendor, partner, and technology agreements.
• Oversee litigation, corporate governance, entity management, and engagement with external counsel.
• Ensure regulatory compliance including data protection and AI regulations.
• Identify emerging legal risks and translate them into practical guidance.

As our new Regional General Counsel CEE, you will lead the Legal function across the CEE region and serve as the trusted legal adviser to regional leadership. You will help enable sustainable growth through practical, risk-based legal guidance while maintaining high standards of governance, compliance, and ethical business conduct. Working closely with regional and global stakeholders, you will develop and enhance legal operations and support business success across multiple jurisdictions (CEE comprises Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey and Ukraine).

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the CEE Legal function and regional legal team

Job Requirements

• Full qualification as a lawyer in a CEEjurisdictionand substantial post-qualification experience


• Senior in-house legal experience in an international business; additional experience in a top international law firm is a plus


• Proven ability to lead and develop legal teams across multiplejurisdictions


• Expertisein commercial contracting, corporate governance, compliance, data privacy,AIregulation,and dispute management


• Experience in the technology, software, cloud, or IT services industry isadvantageous


• Commercially minded with sound judgment, high integrity, and the ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders
