Job summary

Helsing is seeking a senior simulation engineer to help build and improve large-scale autonomous simulation platforms. You will work on the internals of the simulation stack, modelling vehicles and actors, integrating high-fidelity models, and ensuring realistic sensor and environment simulation within a distributed system.

You will translate mission requirements into reusable simulation models, write production code, and collaborate with engineers across teams to deliver high-impact results.

Qualifications

• Built real simulations beyond toy projects using game engines (Unreal/Unity/Godot).
• Write production code with software engineering practices and version control.
• Reason about fidelity versus simulation throughput.
• Translate domain-expert input into reusable models and behaviours.
• Evaluate simulations by outcomes, not only tests.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain simulation platform internals: architecture, replication, performance profiling, interfaces.
• Compose simulated platforms from sensor, communications, situational awareness, effector, and control-loop models; reason about physics.
• Balance fidelity, throughput and cost; validate with SMEs and tests.
• Integrate 3D models and effects from Content Engineers into the simulation.
• Investigate simulation bugs and align with a reference model.
• Write production code shaping the simulation platform and models and determine validation methods.
