Hitachi Energy Ltd. is seeking a design platform’s domain expert to bridge R&D and end-users within our transformer design platform team.

You’ll ensure software solutions meet high quality and usability standards while guiding projects and setting technical direction. The role involves leading transformer design, testing, and manufacturing knowledge, collaborating with stakeholders, and developing standards and tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering; 5+ years in power transformer industry.
• Experience in transformer design, testing, and manufacturing.
• Knowledge of short-circuit physics and FEM analysis tools.

Responsibilities

Job description

The opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated design platform’s domain expert to join our transformer’s design platform team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between our R&D teams and end-users, ensuring that our software solutions meet the highest standards of quality and usability.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Propose and develop new technologies, products, and processes for core type transformers.
• Lead and manage R&D projects self-driven on time, on budget, and with the required quality following Hitachi Energy internal standards and processes.
• Maintain existing and develop new technical standards and design tools for transformers.
• Transfer your knowledge and findings by elaborating reports, specifications and/or participating in educational programs.
• Assess production processes and proactively identify gaps and areas of improvement.
• Support factories troubleshooting in your domain of expertise.
• Support platform developers creating technical specifications in your domain of expertise.
• Develop, manage and expand relationships with stakeholders, internal functions, Corporate Research Centers and external relevant parties (e.g. customers, universities). Providing proposals for possible partnerships.

Your background

• Bachelor's degree and/or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years’ experience in Power Transformer industry. Also a mechanical engineers with 5+ years’ experience in Power Transformers design will also be taken into consideration.
• Good experience in power transformer’s design, testing, and manufacturing.
• Solid knows in Short Circuit physics in power transformers.
• Good knowledge and use of finite element electromagnetic analysis programs. Basic use of a 3D mechanical drawing program (CREO, ...) will be considered a plus.
• Good design experience of dedicated calculation and verification software/applications, into engineering design tools.
• Knowledge of one or more programming languages (C#, C++, Python, ...) will be considered as a plus.
• Knowledge of the fundamental mechanical calculation and verification of structures (bending, torsion ... etc.) and the physical characteristics of the main materials for power transformers manufacturing will be considered a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English to present technical concepts to various stakeholders.
