Job summary

Euroclear is modernising their technology and migrating from COBOL to Java, using Event Hub technologies such as Kafka for integration between migrated services and legacy CREST systems. The Quality Assurance Engineer will join our GBS division and contribute to testing strategy in an agile setting.

The role emphasizes building test strategies, aligning with Solution Architect and Product Owner, and delivering a coherent end-to-end testing solution across migration projects with strong defect

Qualifications

• ISEB/ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing.
• Experience in agile testing environments.
• Hands-on experience with Java and SQL.
• Experience with Event Hub and Kafka streams.
• BDD and TDD knowledge.
• Strong analytical mind-set and ability to derive test cases from documentation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and lead a coherent end-to-end Testing solution that meets both functional and non-functional requirements.
• Write the Test Strategy and present the approach to key stakeholders; propose alternatives if needed.
• Peer review test scenarios and test cases and execute them.
• Maintain excellent defect management and challenge other teams when required.
• Establish estimation principles for phases of the migration program.

Euroclear is modernising their technology and is moving from COBOL to Java and use Event Hub technology (such as Kafka) for integration between the new migrated services and non-migrated legacy CREST system. The Quality Assurance Engineer will join our GBS division.

We are looking for a forward thinking ISEB/ISTQB certified Quality Assurance Engineer with extensive test experience, who is pragmatic, self-starting and who believes testing is a pivotal role in the development of systems that meet the business needs. It is important that the candidate understands T-Shaping and is willing to grow into a T-Shaped Role.

We expect you to work closely with the Scrum Teams to contribute to:

• Work within the squad on CREST transformation programme, focusing on the delivering in an agile fashion, primarily in testing with the ability to help developers.
• Build business and technical knowledge to enable you to contribute to various projects that will be handled by the squad you are in and build / feed into Test strategies.

Responsibilities:

• Work as part of the Agile team to deliver migration of legacy application to new event based and service-oriented architecture solution working in collaboration with the Solution Architect, Product Owner, Technical Lead, CREST application architects and other stakeholders.
• Deliver and lead a coherent end-to-end Testing solution that meets both functional and non-functional requirements.
• Establish estimation principles for phases of the migration program.
• Write the Test Strategy and must be able to propose the most optimum Test Approach. Present the approach to key stakeholders. Propose an alternate approach if required.
• Peer Review Test Scenarios / Test Cases and execute the scenarios / test cases.
• Excellent Defect Management Skills. Be able to challenge other teams / perform required analysis where required.

Skillset:

• Strong analytical mind-set with the ability to extract relevant information from documentation, system data, clients and colleagues and analyse the gathered information.
• Derive manual and automated test scenarios and cases from collated information, documented to standards to enable review and execution by other team members as well as enabling traceability.
• Automation Experience using Cucumber, Java and ADS.
• Reviewing of team members deliverables to ensure completeness, suitability and accuracy of test specification and contribution to reporting.
• Identify and escalation risks and issues proposing associated mitigating actions considering the criticality of the domain of the underlying business.
• Ability to facilitate discussion, extracting information to devise test approach and risk/issue mitigation.
• Analytical and systems design and development skills in building distributed multi-platform solutions.
• Hands-on Object-Oriented Design and Java programming skills.
• Implementing Event Hub technology, especially Kafka and Kafka streams.
• Database design skills in database technologies such as Oracle. Strong in implementation of Java and SQL queries.
• Very Strong Experience of working in an Agile Environment and working knowledge of BDD and TDD.
• Understanding and experience of risk-based testing.
• ISEB/ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing.
