Job summary

WPP is seeking a senior backend engineer to design and implement scalable services and APIs in Python. You will work with data products and AI platforms, collaborate with architects, and contribute to CI/CD and cloud infrastructure.

You’ll optimize performance, ensure reliability, and participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation tasks. Hybrid work model in Poland with global teams and growing engineering org.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in backend software development.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Extensive experience designing and building RESTful APIs.
• Solid understanding of database systems: relational and NoSQL.
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP) and cloud-native apps.
• Familiarity with containers (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of messaging queues and distributed systems.
• Proficiency with version control (Git).
• Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement high-performance backend services and APIs (REST, gRPC).
• Write clean, maintainable Python code using best practices.
• Collaborate with architects to define system architecture and data models.
• Integrate with data sources, AI/ML services, and third-party APIs.
• Optimize backend scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure interactions.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure security and quality standards.
• Develop unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
