Job summary

Umicore Belgium is looking for an experienced Engineering Project Manager to lead capital investment projects in our Battery Materials Solutions division. You will coordinate planning, budgets, timelines and resources, while aligning with cross-functional teams to define objectives and technical requirements.

Applicants should have a degree in Engineering and at least five years in manufacturing or project roles, with strong reading of drawings, P&IDs, and engineering documentation, plus solid

• Proven experience managing technical or capital investment projects.

Your Key Accountabilities

• Lead and coordinate capital investment projects and plant improvement initiatives from planning through execution.
• Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project objectives and technical requirements.
• Support the design, selection, installation, and commissioning of new equipment and process improvements.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, specifications, and engineering drawings.
• Identify and resolve technical issues impacting equipment performance and operational efficiency.
• Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, productivity, and cost optimization.
• Support the development and implementation of preventive maintenance and reliability programs.
• Coordinate and supervise external contractors during project execution.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and engineering standards.
• Communicate project progress, risks, and key milestones to stakeholders.

Who we are looking for

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Process Engineering, or a related field).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or engineering project role.
• Proven experience in managing technical or capital investment projects.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, automation, and industrial process systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and engineering documentation.
• Knowledge of root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Experience with reliability engineering and preventive maintenance concepts is an advantage.
• Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
• Good command of English, both written and spoken.
• Results-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
