Job summary

Umicore Battery Materials seeks a Project Engineer (Projects & Reliability) in Nysa, Poland, to lead investment projects and reliability initiatives. You will coordinate planning, budgets, and resources while collaborating across disciplines to meet technical requirements and ensure safe, compliant execution.

The role requires a 5+ year background in manufacturing or project engineering, with strong reading of drawings, P&IDs and documentation, plus English proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Process Engineering or related).
  • Minimum 5 years in manufacturing or engineering project roles.
  • Experience managing technically or capital investment projects.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, automation and industrial process systems.
  • Ability to read/interpret drawings, P&IDs and engineering docs.
  • Root cause analysis and structured problem solving experience.
  • Nice to have reliability engineering and preventive maintenance knowledge.
  • MS Office proficiency and basic project management tools.
  • Excellent organization, communication and stakeholder skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate capital investment projects and plant improvement initiatives from planning through execution.
  • Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, and resources for successful delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define objectives and technical requirements.
  • Support design, selection, installation, and commissioning of new equipment and process improvements.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, specifications, and drawings.
  • Identify and resolve issues impacting equipment performance and efficiency.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement focused on reliability, productivity, and cost optimization.
  • Support development and implementation of preventive maintenance and reliability programs.
  • Coordinate and supervise external contractors during project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, environmental and engineering standards.
  • Communicate project progress, risks and milestones to stakeholders.

Who we are looking for
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Process Engineering, or a related field).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or engineering project role.
  • Proven experience in managing technical or capital investment projects.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, automation, and industrial process systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and engineering documentation.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience with reliability engineering and preventive maintenance concepts is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
