Job summary

thyssenkrupp Automotive Body Solutions in Katowice is looking for an experienced project manager to lead the automation scope within plant engineering projects. You will act as the primary decision-maker for automation, coordinating with the Project Manager and serving as the technical contact for partners and customers.

The role requires a degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering, hands-on experience in electrical design, PLC programming and commissioning, and proven project management

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional experience in plant engineering in automotive supplier industry.
• Strong knowledge of electrical hardware design, PLC programming and commissioning.
• Proficient in MS Office; able to analyze and report effectively.
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally; proactive mindset.

Responsibilities

• Execute and manage automation scope in varying scale plant engineering projects.
• Act as decision-maker for automation scope in coordination with Project Manager.
• Serve as technical contact for automation with project partners and customers.
• Design, plan and coordinate external planning scope for automation.
• Prepare RFQs, evaluate quotations and support supplier selection.
• Coordinate installation, assembly and commissioning on site for automation.
• Report costs, schedule and project status; drive corrective actions.

thyssenkrupp Automotive Body Solutions is a business unit of the Automotive Technology segment of thyssenkrupp AG. As an integrated body construction specialist, the company offers projekt business including plant engineering, toolmaking and prototype construction as well as the series production of body components from a single source. By utilizing the extensive synergies between these areas, Automotive Body Solutions is the leading contact for all aspects of bodywork.

• You are responsible for the execution and overall management of the automation scope in plant engineering projects of varying sizes, with full responsibility for the results.
• You are the responsible decision-maker for the above-mentioned scope, in coordination with the Project Manager.
• You act as the technical point of contact for automation matters for internal and external project partners as well as customers.
• You design, plan, and coordinate the external planning scope for plant engineering related to automation.
• You prepare RFQs, evaluate quotations and contribute to the supplier selection process.
• You coordinate the installation, assembly and commissioning phases on site for the automation scope.
• You are responsible for cost, schedule and project status reporting, as well as identifying and implementing corrective actions to achieve project targets and optimize project performance. This also includes sub-targets such as safety acceptance, technical milestones and final acceptance.
• You are responsible for change cost and claim management in cooperation with Procurement, Sales and Controlling/Cost Estimation, including commercial coordination with external project partners such as customers and suppliers.

• You have completed a degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or a comparable field, or have an equivalent professional background.
• You have professional experience in plant engineering within the automotive supplier industry or the automotive industry.
• You have strong knowledge of electrical hardware design, PLC programming and commissioning, as well as solid experience in project management.
• You are proficient in using MS Office.
• You distinguish yourself through strong analytical skills combined with a proactive, solution-oriented approach to challenges and a willingness to take responsibility.
• You think and act with an entrepreneurial mindset.
• You have strong teamwork and communication skills and are confident when presenting.
• You have business-fluent English language skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to negotiate confidently. Knowledge of German would be an advantage.
• You enjoy national and international business travel and you are flexible.
