Job summary

Klingenburg International seeks a Production Engineering Coordinator to own and improve the rotors/wheels fabrication process, oversee maintenance activities, and lead a small technical team on the shop floor. Responsibilities include setting process parameters, troubleshooting, and coordinating with automation specialists.

The role requires engineering background and 5–8 years in sheet-metal fabrication with supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Technical/Engineering degree required or equivalent technical background.
• 5–8 years in sheet-metal fabrication and/or industrial maintenance.
• 2–3 years in supervisory roles; leadership in small technical crew.
• Fluent in local plant language; working English preferred for interactions with Group Production Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Own technical performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of fabrication process chain (laser cutting, punching, bending, winding, welding, assembly).
• Lead maintenance strategy: preventive/predictive maintenance, MTBF/MTTR/OEE KPIs, spare-parts planning.
• Define specs, work instructions, and process docs for fabrication; support capex projects with Engineering lead.
• Provide basic PLC diagnostics and coordinate with automation vendors as needed.

Klingenburg International is a company, part of a multinational group, specializes in manufacturing HVAC systems and mechanical components using advanced sheet metal technologies such as laser cutting, mechanical bending, and welding. As the group’s competence center for sheet metal processing, we design custom-engineered (ETO) HVAC solutions, standard repeatable products, and mechanical components. In a fast-paced, evolving business environment, we focus on meeting reduced lead times, especially for intercompany orders.

We are currently looking for someone for the position: Production Engineering Coordinator

1. Role Purpose

• Own the technical performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of the rotors/wheels process chain (laser cutting, punching, bending, aluminum coil/reel winding, welding, mechanical assembly) at the plant.
• Guarantee equipments availability and process capability through direct technical ownership and leadership of the maintenance team.
• Act as the plant's technical authority for fabrication equipment: process setup, troubleshooting, upgrade projects, and operator technical training.

2. Key Responsibilities

Technical / Process Engineering

• Define, optimize, and validate cutting, punching, bending, winding, welding, and assembly parameters to ensure quality, throughput, and scrap-rate targets.
• Lead root-cause analysis on process deviations, machine stoppages, and quality non-conformities; define and track corrective/preventive actions (continuous improvement approach).
• Manage technical specifications, work instructions, and process documentation for the fabrication area;
• Support capex projects: new equipment selection, installation, ramp-up, and qualification, in coordination with the Plant manager and Group Production Engineering.
• Where PLC-controlled equipment is involved, perform or supervise basic PLC diagnostics, parameter changes, and coordination with automation specialists/OEM vendors for more complex interventions.

Maintenance Management

• Plan and supervise preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for all fabrication equipment (laser, punching press, press brakes, winding line, welding stations, assembly lines).
• Manage spare-parts strategy, maintenance KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, OEE) and maintenance budget for the area.
• Ensure machine safety compliance and lead incident investigations related to equipment.

People Management

• Directly manage and develop a team of 5 (1 production engineer, 4 maintenance team).
• Build technical training plans to grow team competence on new technologies.

3. Required Technical Skills

• CNC punching

• Solid understanding of industrial maintenance methods (preventive/predictive, TPM/WCM principles).
• PLC knowledge (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or equivalent) is a strong plus — ability to read ladder logic, adjust parameters, support basic troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with quality tools (root-cause analysis, SPC, 8D) and lean manufacturing principles.
• Basic knowledge of plant digitalization / real-time monitoring systems (MES, SCADA) considered an asset, consistent with CAREL's digitalization pillar.

4. Management & Behavioral Skills

• Team leadership experience with a small technical crew (sizing and coaching, shift/priority planning).
• Structured problem-solving and decision-making under production pressure.
• Strong ownership and accountability.
• Collaborative, open communication style across production, quality, and engineering functions.
• Pragmatic, hands-on attitude; comfortable on the shop floor as well as with technical documentation and reporting.

5. Required Qualifications & Experience

• Technical/Engineering degree (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering) or equivalent experience-based technical background.
• Minimum 5–8 years of experience in sheet-metal fabrication and/or industrial maintenance, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory/team-lead role (level to be confirmed based on internal grading).
• Fluent in local plant language; working English preferred for interaction with Group Production Engineering.
