Job summary

Zowie, a Polish-based company, is building AI-native engineering teams to power its GenAI platform. We’re hiring versatile Product Engineers who will work closely with the GenAI frontier to design scalable, reliable systems and drive fast time-to-value.

In this role you’ll contribute across Kotlin, Java, Scala, or Python stacks, use AI tools to scaffold code and tests, and help shape architecture while delivering tangible customer impact. Fluency in English and Polish is valued.

This is why we’re now growing our engineering team and hiring versatile, AI-native Product Engineers who want to work very closely to the GenAI frontier and help build the next truly impactful product.

Two important things:

1. This role is for software engineers who think beyond a single stack. You need to be strong in at least one of the following languages: Kotlin, Java, Scala, or Python - and open to working across the others when it’s the right tool for the job.

2. We are an AI‑native engineering org. This means that you’re expected - not just allowed - to use modern AI tools in your daily work. Software engineering is changing fast with new AI tooling - and we’re not sitting on the sidelines. Here, you’ll actively push that frontier: using AI to explore designs, scaffold code, generate tests, and document decisions, while holding the line on solid engineering - clear contracts, readable code, strong test suites, observability, and maintainable architectures. This isn’t YOLO vibe-coding; it’s disciplined engineering, accelerated.

Ideally, you'll bring with you:

• Strong coding skills in Kotlin, Java, Scala, or Python and a passion for learning
• Solid expertise in enhancing your engineering setup and workflow with AI dev tools
• Excellent knowledge of SQL and relational databases
• Solid system design skills that allow you to choose technologies and architectures wisely
• Experience with distributed systems
• Product acumen, ownership, and focus on value delivered for the customers
• Working proficiency in English and Polish (both spoken and written)

It will be awesome if you have:

• Experience with Docker Swarm / Kubernetes
• Experience with NoSQL databases and GraphQL
• Experience with Kafka or other message brokers

Despite being a compact team, we efficiently manage and enhance a sophisticated system comprising over 100 microservices, predominantly coded in Scala and Java. These microservices communicate synchronously through gRPC, handle asynchronous calls via Kafka, expose GraphQL to the frontend, and leverage databases like PostgreSQL, Mongo, ElasticSearch, or Redis. We believe in automatic tests, and use of Ports and Adapters practices in our services.
