Job summary

Philip Morris International in Kraków, Poland (hybrid) or Portugal (remote) seeks a senior IIoT/solution architect to own end-to-end platform architecture for Manufacturing. You will define target architecture, roadmaps and governance across edge, cloud, data, analytics and AI while enforcing PMI standards and security.

Collaboration with product teams and vendors is essential, with a focus on scalable, cost-conscious solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years in solution or platform architecture for IIoT/manufacturing.
• Knowledge of ISA-95, Purdue Model, OPC UA, MQTT, edge computing, IT/OT security.
• Experience with data platforms, AI/ML, APIs, microservices, ETL/ELT.
• Experience with REST APIs, event-driven integration and secure auth patterns.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end IIoT platform architecture for Manufacturing, roadmap and lifecycle.
• Lead solution architecture for Manufacturing and IIoT products from demand to deployment.
• Design and govern scalable IIoT architectures across edge, data, analytics and AI.
• Ensure alignment with PMI standards while managing debt and cost.
• Support Product Owners and delivery teams with roadmaps and non-functional requirements.
• Foster innovation and cross-solution collaboration and best practices.
• Lead vendor evaluations and maintain architecture documentation.

What You’ll Do

• Own the end-to-end Industrial IoT platform architecture for Manufacturing, including target architecture, roadmap, decisions and lifecycle evolution
• Lead solution architecture for Manufacturing and Industrial IoT products, from demand assessment to deployment
• Design and govern scalable IIoT architectures across edge, connectivity, data, integration, analytics and AI
• Ensure alignment with PMI architecture, cybersecurity and technology standards while managing technical debt and cost
• Support Product Owners and delivery teams with roadmaps, non-functional requirements and implementation quality
• Foster innovation, cross-solution collaboration, technology reuse and engineering best practices
• Lead vendor and technology evaluations, maintain architecture documentation and keep industry expertise current

Skills & Capabilities

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years in solution or platform architecture across cloud, Manufacturing or Industrial IoT
• Knowledge of ISA-95, Purdue Model, OPC UA, MQTT, edge computing, industrial connectivity and IT/OT security
• Experience with data platforms, AI/ML and integration patterns including APIs, microservices and ETL/ELT
• Experience with REST APIs, event-driven integration and secure authentication patterns
• Practical experience with IIoT, edge, integration, data and AI services on AWS, Azure or GCP

Nice To Have

• Experience designing and scaling Industrial IoT solutions
• Knowledge of TOGAF, ArchiMate or UML
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, Industry 4.0 and operational excellence
• Experience in data modelling, master data management and modern data architecture
• Knowledge of identity and access management, including SSO, OAuth and RBAC/ABAC
• Understanding of machine learning concepts and model lifecycle practices
• Familiarity with SAP technologies and enterprise integrations
• Relevant cloud or architecture certifications
