Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Extensive experience in C and C++ (STL, Boost, generics, algorithms, data structures).
• Experience with MS Windows Server/Cluster environments, Apache and virtualization such as VMware.
• PowerShell scripting and CI/CD using GitHub.
• Knowledge of REST concepts and architectures; ability to analyze complex systems.
• Ability to optimize performance, scalability, and stability of products.
• Ability to perform requirements analysis and coordinate distributed teams.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

JOB SUMMARY

Job Title: Principal Software Development Engineer (Databases)

Work Model: Remote - Poland

Schedule: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM CET; Monday to Friday

Avid is looking for an experienced Principal Software Development Engineer to work with our engineering team to develop, implement, test, optimize, and maintain our Media solutions. This is a highly technical, hands‑on role focused on solving complex engineering challenges across the product. A key area of responsibility will be understanding the behavior of the engine in virtualized environments and investigating challenging issues related to data integrity, performance, scalability, and system stability.

The successful candidate is expected to:

• Understand complex end-to-end workflows and interaction models between and within web applications, as well as communication with backend services and message-oriented systems.
• Act as a strong technical contributor, translating high‑level functional specifications into detailed design specifications and seeing the implementation process through with the involved teams.
• Communicate effectively in a multi‑site project, including coordinating development and deliverables with other teams worldwide.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Minimum Requirements

• 8+ years of software development experience
• Extensive experience in C and C++ (STL, Boost, generics, algorithms, data structures), MS Visual Studio, Win32 API, and COM/DCOM.
• Experience with MS Windows Server/Cluster environments, Apache (including plugin/module flow), and application development and debugging in virtualized environments such as VMware.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting and continuous integration/deployment using GitHub.
• Knowledge of REST concepts and architectures, with the ability to analyze complex systems and end-to-end workflows.
• Ability to analyze performance issues and design and implement solutions to improve product performance, scalability, and stability.
• Ability to perform requirements analysis, communicate effectively with product owners and distributed teams, and coordinate development and deliverables in a multi‑site environment.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Capabilities

• Experience with Postgres and other SQL databases.
• Experience using AI‑based development assistants, such as Microsoft Copilot.
• Programming skills with Golang.
• Experience deploying SaaS in the Cloud, including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Experience with monitoring solutions, such as Prometheus.

The ideal candidate shall also possess the following analytical and behavioral skills:

• Ability to analyze performance issues and design and implement solutions to improve product performance, scalability, and stability.
• Ability to perform requirements analysis, communicate effectively with product owners and distributed teams, and coordinate development and deliverables in a multi‑site environment.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken, with the ability to communicate effectively across teams.

Salary Ranges

MIN 185,848.80 to MAX 278,773.20 PLN/Annual The salary range shown reflects the company's good faith full target range for this position at the time of posting. The company may update or modify this range at any time and endeavors to keep this posting current. Compensation decisions are based on factors including geographic location, experience, skills, education, and business needs. While the full range is posted for transparency, offers are typically made within the lower to middle portion of the range.
