Job summary

ABC Fitness is seeking a Principal Software Developer to set technical direction for the CRM space on the ABC Glofox platform, guiding architecture across CRM Ops and Connect teams and partnering with squads to raise the bar for reliability and operability.

The role focuses on designing scalable, data-driven systems, migrations, and platform integrations while maintaining close alignment with product goals and business outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a relevant field is preferred.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience with staff/principal-level impact.
• Deep systems design experience for distributed, data-intensive products impacting multiple teams.
• Strong judgment on architecture trade-offs, production readiness and long-term maintainability.
• Solid grasp of agile development methods, quality and testing principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to influence technical direction across teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive high-leverage architecture, technical strategy and engineering standards for XLerate across multiple CRM-space teams.
• Own architecture and lead design of large-scale, data-intensive systems spanning segmentation, CRM workflows, and shared platform paths used by partner squads.
• Raise and evolve engineering standards for reliability, performance, observability, and operability at scale.
• Guide technical alignment with Leads, Product, and teams such as CRM Ops and Connect to align technical bets with XLerate outcomes.
• Mentor Engineers and technical leads across the CRM domain; unblock the hardest technical problems through design reviews and hands-on guidance.
• Lead diagnosis and resolution of the highest-severity, cross-team Customer Incidents in the CRM space, coordinating CRM Ops, Connect, and partner squads.

This is a Principal Software Developer role across the CRM space on the ABC Glofox platform, setting technical direction for shared CRM capabilities used by multiple engineering teams including CRM Ops (CRM operations and segmentation: tags, audiences, tasks, and member filtering) and Connect (automations and communications), and providing technical partnering with other squads as needed. You'll help set technical direction beyond any single feature team - raising the bar for architecture, reliability, and operability across CRM data paths and product delivery - while staying close to the systems that serve ~130M active members and turn engagement into measurable outcomes for studios.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Define and drive high-leverage architecture, technical strategy and engineering standards for XLerate across multiple CRM-space teams
• Own architecture, design patterns and lead design of large-scale, data intensive systems complex systems spanning segmentation, CRM workflows, and shared platform paths used by partner squads
• Raise and evolve engineering standards for reliability, performance, observability, and operability at scale
• Guide technical alignment with Leads, Product, and teams such as CRM Ops and Connect to align technical bets with XLerate outcomes
• Mentor Engineers and technical leads across the CRM domain; unblock the hardest technical problems through design reviews and hands-on guidance
• Lead diagnosis and resolution of the highest-severity, cross-team Customer Incidents in the CRM space - coordinating CRM Ops, Connect, and partner squads, driving the technical fix, and leaving the system more operable than you found it
• Shape and set practical standards for how AI is used across XLerate delivery and product surfaces: raise the bar for safe, evidence-based use of AI in engineering (and, where relevant, member/studio-facing CRM workflows), without treating it as a side project.
• Identify, prioritize and land platform improvements that reduce systemic risk and accelerate delivery across the CRM domain
• Strengthen engineering execution through CI/CD, production readiness, observability, continuous improvement and through ways of working
• Set technical direction for large-scale platform migrations and integrations (including Gymsales → Glofox and cross-platform ABC integrations), including migration tooling, data cutover, and dual-run / coexistence strategies
• Shape webhook and third-party integration architecture that partner products and external systems rely on

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field exp. preferred
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with proven staff/principal-level technical impact required
• Deep systems design experience for distributed, data-intensive products that affect multiple teams and services
• Strong judgment on architecture trade-offs, production readiness, and long-term maintainability
• Solid understanding of the practical application of agile development methods in an Agile/Lean/Continuous Delivery environment
• Knowledge of modern Quality and Testing principles
• Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable influencing technical direction across teams, document architectural decisions and align senior engineering and product stakeholders
• Comfortable learning new technologies and systems
• Hands-on experience designing and delivering large data/platform migrations (tooling, cutover, rollback, and operability under dual-run)
• Experience establishing engineering standards across multiple squads

AND IT'S GREAT TO HAVE:

• Experience with Golang and/or Java services at scale
• Deep experience with large MySQL / relational data platforms
• Experience with no-SQL DBs (e.g. MongoDB)
