Job summary

Elastic is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for the Platform Engineering Productivity team to own how teams build and ship software at scale. You will help ensure high-quality releases and improve developer efficiency across the organization.

You should be systems-minded, curious, and comfortable with ambiguity, with hands-on AI fluency and experience integrating LLM APIs into production workflows. The role is globally distributed with flexible locations.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of the full software development lifecycle and release practices.
• Experience with Python, Go, Bash, Java, or Scala.
• CI/CD systems, Git, and modern development practices.
• Cloud infrastructure experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, and major providers.
• Ability to design scalable systems and improve developer productivity via tooling.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve frameworks, components, and guidelines across services.
• Improve CI infrastructure reliability and efficiency.
• Enable ephemeral developer environments and release quality gates.
• Develop tooling for deployment and product release.
• Review code, uphold standards, and mentor engineers.
• Communicate across teams and document architectures and processes.
