Job summary

Genuine Parts Company in Krakow seeks a Principal Engineer for the Generative AI Innovation Hub to set technical direction for enterprise GenAI while remaining hands-on in architecture and development.

You will lead rapid experimentation, establish reusable standards, and partner with product, data, platform, and security teams to move high-value use cases from prototype to production with quality, security, and measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with leadership in complex systems.
• Recent experience delivering AI/ML or generative AI in production.
• Advanced Python skills and strong architecture, APIs, testing practices.
• Hands-on experience with modern GenAI patterns and model evaluation.
• Experience with cloud platforms, containers, CI/CD, and observability.
• Ability to incorporate security, privacy and risk into designs.
• Influence architecture across teams without formal authority.
• Clear communication for technical and executive audiences.

Responsibilities

• Set and evolve technical strategy, reference architectures, and engineering standards for GenAI.
• Architect and build prototypes and production services using Python and cloud platforms.
• Lead evaluation of foundation models, retrieval, agentic workflows, and build-versus-buy decisions.
• Establish MLOps/LLOps practices for evaluation, testing, deployment and observability.
• Embed responsible AI, data protection, security, and oversight in designs.
• Partner with business and product leaders to frame use cases and measure value.
• Integrate GenAI capabilities with existing data and processes; mentor engineers.
• Lead architecture reviews and raise engineering quality across teams.
• Monitor AI advances and drive adoption when value is proven.
