Job summary

Hard Rock Digital is seeking a Principal Backend Engineer for our Casino Technology Team. You will set technical direction, own backend architecture, and drive cross-team initiatives for the Casino and Sportsbook applications.

Responsibilities include mentoring engineers, shaping roadmap with stakeholders, embracing AI-assisted tooling, and delivering scalable, multi-region cloud services on AWS with Java/Spring and microservices.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of work experience.
• Hands-on AI-assisted development tools usage in daily workflow.
• Strong English communication (written and spoken).
• Experience with large-volume, high-traffic systems.
• Deep AWS Cloud architecture knowledge for scalable apps.
• Proficient in Java/Spring and microservices-based design.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction and architecture for cross-team systems.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of complex features.
• Mentor Staff and Senior Engineers and advise Architects and PMs.
• Influence roadmap and architectural decisions with stakeholders.
• Code with quality and passion, leveraging AI-assisted tooling.
• Coach developers on approaches and code quality to improve velocity.
• Ensure quality, scope, and timeliness of all deliverables.
• Champion AI-assisted engineering practices across the team.
