Job summary

Baker Hughes seeks an Electrical Design Engineer – Power Electronics to develop complex electronic circuits for downhole drilling tools operating in extreme conditions. You will lead design, simulation, verification and documentation across the product life cycle within a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities include motor drives, high-temperature power supplies, PCB support, and development of test systems, while staying compliant with project milestones and design reviews.

Qualifications

• Above-average university degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on power electronics.
• Experience in circuit- and system-design of power electronics.
• Knowledge of power electronics topologies including voltage converters and control systems for electrical machines.
• Knowledge of wide band-gap devices such as GaN or SiC.
• Knowledge in measurement and control engineering.
• Experience handling modern electronic laboratory equipment.
• Good written and spoken English for an international environment.

Responsibilities

• Circuit design of power electronic modules, including mixed-signal circuitry.
• Develop power electronics modules, including motor drives and switching power supplies.
• Perform simulations using Matlab/Simulink to validate control algorithms.
• Support PCB layout.
• Test and characterization of circuits at high ambient temperature.
• Development of test systems including hardware and software.
• Qualification of electronic components for high temperature applications.
• Documentation and presentation of development results in design reviews.
