Job summary

Jerzy Haber Institute of Catalysis and Surface Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow announces a post-doctoral Assistant position in the group Theoretical and Experimental Biocatalysis for an OPUS LAP PHA-CURE project.

The successful candidate will optimize polyhydroxyalkanoate fermentation, produce and characterize biomaterials, and collaborate with PhD students while supervising interns and researchers. English proficiency is required, and a PhD or equivalent is expected.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.
• At least 4 years of research in materials engineering and/or biotechnology with publications (first or corresponding author).
• Experience leading national and international research projects.
• At least 4 months of foreign research internship.
• Laboratory work experience.
• Knowledge of biomaterials and surface characterization techniques (SEM/TEM, QCM, DLS, FTIR, UV-Vis, NMR, DSC) and fluorescence imaging.
• Excellent English (C1) in speech and writing.
• Strong motivation for scientific research and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Optimization of polyhydroxyalkanoate fermentation processes.
• Production and characterization of biomaterials using surface and structural analysis methods.
• Collaboration with a PhD student on expression of recombinant proteins.
• Supervision of interns and PhD students in the research group.
• Planning, conducting research, analyzing results, and preparing scientific publications.
• Presentation of research results at national and international conferences.
