Job summary

JBF Consulting is building a bench of senior PMO consultants to deliver measurable value for clients worldwide. This remote, flexible role is ideal for experienced PMO leaders seeking fractional or part-time engagements.

You will design and optimize PMO structures, conduct maturity assessments, implement governance, and guide portfolio planning with a focus on value realization and risk management. Strong communication with C-level stakeholders is essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in project/program/portfolio management, with PMO leadership
• Experience leading PMO maturity improvement initiatives
• Comfortable in public sector, financial services, or tech environments
• Knowledge of governance, reporting, demand management, and portfolio planning
• Familiarity with Smartsheet, Power BI, Microsoft PPM, Clarity PPM is a plus
• Certifications such as PMI-PfMP, PMI PMO-CP, P3O, or P3M3 Assessor preferred

Responsibilities

• Design, assess, or optimize PMOs (Project/Program/Portfolio)

• Develop and implement PMO governance models, processes, tools, and KPIs
• Guide clients on resource planning, portfolio prioritization, benefits realization, and risk management

• Provide thought leadership on PMO transformation, agile/hybrid delivery, and tool adoption (Smartsheet, MS Project, Jira)

Role Overview

We are seeking highly experienced PMO professionals to join our consulting bench. You’ll work on a project-by-project basis, supporting clients in PMO design, improvement, strategic alignment, governance implementation, and portfolio planning. This is a flexible, as-needed role—ideal for seasoned PMO leaders open to fractional or part-time engagements.

Key Responsibilities

• Support or lead the design, assessment, or optimization of Project/Program/Portfolio Management Offices (PMOs)
• Conduct maturity assessments using models such as P3M3 or tailored frameworks (e.g., Vision2Value)
• Develop and implement PMO governance models, processes, tools, and KPIs
• Guide clients on resource planning, portfolio prioritization, benefits realization, and risk management
• Support executive alignment and facilitate strategic workshops
• Coach or mentor internal PMO leaders and delivery teams
• Provide thought leadership on PMO transformation, agile/hybrid delivery models, and tool adoption (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project, Jira)

Who You Are

A former PMO Director or Senior PMO Lead with a proven track record of building or evolving enterprise PMOs

At ease with both strategic planning and execution oversight

Capable of building trust with C-level stakeholders and PMO team members alike

Highly self-directed, professional, and able to integrate quickly into client environments

Open to short-term, remote, or fractional work

Requirements

• 10+ years in project/program/portfolio management, with at least 5 years in PMO leadership roles
• Experience leading or contributing to PMO maturity improvement initiatives
• Comfortable working in public sector, financial services, or technology-driven organizations
• Strong knowledge of governance, reporting, demand management, and portfolio planning
• Familiarity with tools such as Smartsheet, Power BI, Microsoft PPM, or Clarity PPM is a plus
• Certifications such as PMI-PfMP, PMI PMO-CP, P3O, orP3M3 Assessor preferred
