Billennium is a global technology company seeking a Platform / Solution Architect to drive the development environment on GCP and advance the next phase of our platform. You will blend hands-on architectural design with strong stakeholder navigation across a large, complex organisation.

You will own the platform layer on GCP, design reusable capabilities, and ensure alignment with product teams while mentoring engineers and guiding governance discussions related to platform adoption.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Platform Architect, Solution Architect or Technical Lead on cloud platform initiatives.
• Strong GCP expertise - target platform and primary technical requirement.
• Experience designing generic, reusable platform capabilities rather than one-off project solutions.
• Excellent communication and tenacity to navigate a large organisation and obtain required information.
• Solution and systems design including data modelling and systems integration.

About the role

We are looking for a Platform / Solution Architect to support the delivery team on GCP and to take the development environment into its next phase. The role combines hands‑on architectural design with strong stakeholder navigation across a large, complex organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Own architectural design and design decisions for the development environment on GCP
• Design a generic, reusable platform layer that new projects can adopt, abstracting away common infrastructure and integration concerns
• Align design and timelines with other project and product teams, gathering the input required to make sound architectural choices
• Secure the support the delivery team needs - organisational networking is a core part of the role, not a side activity
• Contribute to the governance model discussion around platform ownership and adoption (driven by another team; alignment required)
• Support data and AI/ML use cases where relevant, including pipeline and integration design
• Provide light Product Owner support where needed to keep the team unblocked
• Maintain and extend the existing communication and stakeholder map

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Platform Architect, Solution Architect or Technical Lead on cloud platform initiatives
• Strong GCP expertise - this is the target platform and the primary technical requirement
• Demonstrated experience building generic, reusable platform capabilities rather than one-off project solutions
• Excellent communication skills and tenacity - the ability to identify the right people in a large, complex organisation and persist until the required information is obtained
• Solution and systems design, including data modelling and systems integration
• Experience aligning architecture and timelines across multiple product and project teams
• Comfortable operating with incomplete information and driving clarity through stakeholder engagement
• Strong Python
• English at professional working level (C1)

Nice to have

• Infrastructure as code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipeline design; DevOps practices
• Exposure to platform governance models and adoption frameworks
• Experience delivering AI/ML or NLP solutions into production - not only proof‑of‑concept work
• MLOps / ModelOps experience, including maturity assessment of DataOps-DevOps-MLOps setups
• Architecture modelling notation (e.g. ArchiMate) and structured analysis and design techniques
• AWS or Azure exposure alongside GCP
• Experience in Product Owner or delivery-facing roles
• Telco domain experience
• Coaching and mentoring of junior engineers
