Job summary

Frontiers is a global, mission‑driven publisher focused on open science. This Platform Product Manager role owns IAM and Messaging strategy, partnering with Platform Engineering to deliver secure, scalable services for internal engineering teams.

You will shape API contracts, drive reliability, and align with GDPR and security standards, enabling faster, safer integrations across Frontiers’ publishing stack.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Technical/Platform Product Management or engineering leadership.
• Platform‑as‑a‑product mindset: you build for internal engineering customers, not end users.
• APIs as products: strong grasp of API design, versioning, lifecycle management.
• Distributed‑systems literacy: knowledge of backend systems and event‑driven architectures.
• Professional‑level English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the IAM and Messaging roadmap.
• Translate engineering needs into clear specs and a prioritised backlog.
• Co‑design with Platform Engineering Manager and Senior Engineers on architecture trade‑offs.
• Own the service/API lifecycle: versioning, deprecation, backward compatibility.
• Be the primary contact for internal customers integrating IAM and Messaging.
• Define and track success metrics: adoption, reliability, security, cost.
• Partner with Security, Architecture and Infrastructure to stay compliant.
• Communicate roadmap and priorities to engineering leadership.
