Job summary

Vonage is seeking an engineering manager to lead the EU/US Platform Engineering team. This hands-on leadership role combines people management with technical contributions to Kubernetes-based platforms and AWS infrastructure, spanning global time zones.

You will drive roadmaps, coach engineers through transitions from SRE to platform product engineering, and ensure security and compliance while maintaining reliability and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of engineering management experience leading platform, DevOps, or SRE teams.
• Hands-on engineering background writing and shipping production code, end-to-end ownership of systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes-based platforms (EKS preferred) including upgrades at scale.
• Strong hands-on experience with the AWS ecosystem and understanding of AWS services underpinning enterprise infra.
• Ability to lead and grow engineers through transitions from operational/SRE roles to product-oriented platform engineering.
• Dependency-unblocking mindset to drive cross-team commitments and multi-team deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Lead the EU/US Platform Engineering team and provide day-to-day people management and technical leadership.
• Stay hands-on technically by writing/reviewing production code and contributing to architecture decisions.
• Drive the roadmap forward under Directors’ direction to ensure timely deliverables.
• Develop your people and coach team members toward ownership and modern platform practices.
• Coordinate large-scale platform changes across teams and time zones (Kubernetes upgrades, tooling migrations, security hardening).
• Operate within compliance and security constraints while maintaining guardrails.
• Be data-driven by defining and tracking SLAs, KPIs, and error budgets and communicating platform health.
