Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in engineering management or technical leadership.
• Strong experience designing, building, and operating high-scale distributed systems in production.
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts: asynchronous processing, idempotency, retries, data consistency, fault tolerance.
• Experience with relational databases and API/service-oriented architectures.
• Familiarity with PHP, JavaScript/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, and AWS SQS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of full-stack engineers with clear ownership and accountability.
• Own the technical execution and quality of the payments platform.
• Partner with Product to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Define and evolve architecture and direction of the high-scale payments system.
• Ensure systems are correct, reliable, scalable, and maintainable.
• Drive improvements to performance, monitoring, and incident prevention.
• Coach and mentor engineers and support their growth.
• Participate in architecture reviews and code/design discussions.
