Job summary

SoftwareMind seeks an OpenStack Engineer to join an internal team building and operating private cloud platforms for enterprise clients across Western Europe. You will install OpenStack with Kolla-Ansible, prepare infrastructure, configure networking/storage, and implement monitoring and automation.

You will troubleshoot production services, contribute to design decisions, and work across data centers and edge clusters with mentoring from seniors.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of Linux in production, including OpenStack.
• Experience administering core OpenStack services: Nova, Neutron, Keystone, Glance, Cinder, Placement and Horizon.
• Ability to diagnose failed instance, volume and network operations with OpenStack CLI and logs.
• Understand internal platform architecture: API, scheduler, agents, MQ and DB.
• Experience with OpenStack deployment frameworks (preferably Kolla-Ansible) and containerized services.
• Proficient in Ansible and Git; good scripting skills in Python.
• Networking fundamentals including VLANs, routing, NAT and overlay networks.
• English at least B2 for technical docs and client communication.

Responsibilities

• Install and configure OpenStack components with Kolla-Ansible.
• Prepare infrastructure nodes: OS, KVM, container runtime, networks and storage.
• Configure networks: OVN, VLANs, Cinder, boot-from-volume workflows.
• Deploy monitoring and logging: Prometheus, Alertmanager, Grafana, Fluentd, OpenSearch.
• Handle incidents and service requests within SLAs.
• Execute planned changes: patching, node replacement, VM evacuation.
• Maintain repos via merge requests and promote changes between environments.
• Automate repeatable tasks with Ansible and CI pipelines; participate in on-call rotation.
