Job summary

Afternow is seeking a midweight Motion Designer for a three-month, fully remote freelance engagement. You will animate digital products, brand reveal videos, and explainers that support marketing and case studies, collaborating with branding and UI teams.

Strong design eye and brand system understanding are essential to deliver polished motion across formats. You will work with After Effects, Figma, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro, contributing to marketing assets and client projects while meeting

The Role

We're looking for a midweight Motion Designer to join us on a three-month, full-time freelance engagement. You'll bring digital products, brands, and ideas to life through animation, supporting Afternow's own marketing and case studies, and a handful of marketing assets for client projects.

The work centres on digital products: animating digital interfaces, building brand reveal videos, and producing explainer videos that make complex products easy to follow. You'll work alongside our branding and UI design team, so a good eye for design and an understanding of brand systems matter as much as technical skill.

What You'll Do

Animate Product Visuals

Turn product interfaces and UI designs into clear, polished motion, from feature walkthroughs to short product teasers.

Create Brand Reveals and Explainers

Produce brand reveal videos and explainer videos that stay true to each brand's identity, from storyboard through to final delivery.

Support Afternow Marketing and Case Studies

Build animated assets for our website, social channels, and case studies that show our work at its best.

Support Client Projects

Contribute motion assets to client projects, applying and extending the brand systems our team has created.

Collaborate and Iterate

Work closely with designers, strategists, and project leads, and make revisions based on team and client feedback.

Manage Your Own Workload

Keep several pieces moving at once, communicate clearly on progress, and deliver on time.

Essential Experience

• Midweight: 3+ years of motion design experience
• Agency, tech company, or freelance background
• Proven experience animating product visuals and digital interfaces
• Experience producing brand reveal videos and explainer videos
• Strong portfolio showing both craft and storytelling

Design Excellence

• Clean, considered motion that makes product interfaces easy to understand
• Ability to turn a brief or storyboard into a finished video
• Sound sense of timing, pacing, and typography in motion
• Delivering polished work across several formats and platforms

Tools

• Proficient in Adobe After Effects and comfortable with Figma files (essential)
• Comfortable working with Illustrator and Premiere Pro or a similar editing tool
• Familiarity with Lottie, Rive, Cinema 4D, or Blender is a plus

Communication

• Fluent English (written and verbal) to engage international team members and clients
• Effective collaboration with designers, team members, and clients

Bonus Points

• Sound design or audio editing
• 3D animation skills
• Experience in SaaS or tech marketing
