Job summary

Xebia is hiring a senior software engineer to join our Europe-wide engineering team. You will build and maintain backend services in Java/Kotlin with Spring Boot, design REST APIs, and collaborate with frontend teams to create end-to-end customer experiences.

Requirements include strong Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, REST API, React, HTML5/CSS, WCAG accessibility, and experience with AI-powered assistants. Polish and English at B2, plus occasional Warsaw office visits are expected.

You will be:

• developing and maintaining backend services using Java and/or Kotlin and Spring Boot,
• designing and integrating REST APIs within a distributed microservices environment,
• building responsive and accessible web applications using HTML5 and CSS,
• collaborating across backend and frontend components to deliver end-to-end customer experiences,
• focusing on code quality, automated testing, performance, and application monitoring,
• using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or OpenCode to support software development,
• working closely with other teams to evolve the automotive marketplace and its specialized customer experiences.

Your profile:

• strong commercial experience with Java and/or Kotlin,
• hands-on experience with Spring Boot and REST API development,
• practical experience working with distributed microservices architectures,
• strong understanding of code quality, testing, performance, and monitoring,
• commercial experience with React and modern frontend development,
• practical knowledge of HTML5, CSS, and responsive web development,
• understanding of web accessibility standards, including WCAG,
• practical experience using AI-powered assistants (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to improve productivity, quality, or decision-making in software delivery.
• Polish and English at B2 level,
• openness to occasional visits to the Warsaw office (1-2 days per quarter).

Work from the European Union region and a work permit are required.

Nice to have:

• experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP),
• knowledge of SQL and databases,
• experience with MongoDB,
• familiarity with Microfrontends architecture,
• experience applying GenAI in a more structured way within the SDLC, including defined workflows, prompt patterns, or tool integrations embedded into daily work,
• interest in and familiarity with emerging AI-driven practices (e.g. agent-based workflows, automation patterns, AI-augmented development), with a willingness to explore and experiment beyond standard approaches.
