Job summary

Xebia is a global AI-first, digital transformation and engineering partner. We are hiring a backend/frontend engineer to design scalable Java/Kotlin services with Spring Boot and build responsive UI with React, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS.

You will work in a distributed microservices environment, emphasize code quality, testing, performance and monitoring, and collaborate across teams to deliver end-to-end customer experiences. EU work eligibility and occasional Warsaw visits are required.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with Java and/or Kotlin.
• Hands-on Spring Boot and REST API development experience.
• Experience with distributed microservices architectures.
• Knowledge of TypeScript and modern JavaScript frameworks (React).
• Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards.
• Proficiency in Polish and English (B2).
• EU work eligibility with willingness to visit Warsaw office.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend services in Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot, with REST APIs in a microservices setup.

You will be:

• developing and maintaining backend services using Java and/or Kotlin and Spring Boot, designing and integrating REST APIs within a distributed microservices environment
• contributing to frontend development using React, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript
• building responsive and accessible web applications using HTML5 and CSS
• collaborating across backend and frontend components to deliver end-to-end customer experiences, focusing on code quality, automated testing, performance, and application monitoring
• using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or OpenCode to support software development
• working closely with other teams to evolve the automotive marketplace and its specialized customer experiences

Your profile:

• strong commercial experience with Java and/or Kotlin
• hands-on experience with Spring Boot and REST API development
• practical experience working with distributed microservices architectures
• strong understanding of code quality, testing, performance, and monitoring
• good knowledge of TypeScript and modern JavaScript
• commercial experience with React and modern frontend development
• practical knowledge of HTML5, CSS, and responsive web development
• understanding of web accessibility standards, including WCAG
• practical experience using AI-powered assistants (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to improve productivity, quality, or decision-making in software delivery
• Polish and English at B2 level, openness to occasional visits to the Warsaw office (1-2 days per quarter)
• Work from the European Union region and a work permit are required.

Nice to have:

• experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• knowledge of SQL and databases
• experience with MongoDB
• familiarity with Microfrontends architecture
• experience applying GenAI in a more structured way within the SDLC, including defined workflows, prompt patterns, or tool integrations embedded into daily work
• interest in and familiarity with emerging AI-driven practices (e.g. agent-based workflows, automation patterns, AI-augmented development), with a willingness to explore and experiment beyond standard approaches
