Job summary

Pepco Poland Sp. z o.o. is seeking a Markdown Optimisation Analyst to lead pricing and markdown strategies for Poznań. You will set parameters, rules, and progressive markdown plans to maximise profit and sell-through while forecasting demand and margin shifts.

The role requires 2+ years in price/inventory planning, strong Excel, and Power BI skills, plus analytical thinking and a customer-focused mindset. Collaboration with Planning and Buying is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Price and Inventory Management or Merchandise Planning, retail preferred.
• Master's degree in Economics, Product Management, Production Management, Mathematics, Commerce, or similar field.
• Excellent proficiency in MS Excel (essential).
• Very good knowledge of MS Word and MS PowerPoint; Power BI is a plus.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and problem solving.
• Customer-focused mindset with a focus on retail performance and business results.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team; strong planning and prioritization.

Responsibilities

• Set and provide guidance on optimal markdown parameters.
• Set and provide rules based on category financial plans.
• Determine optimal markdown strategy.
• Recommend and execute optimized, progressive clearance markdowns or multi-buy promotions maximizing profit and sell-through, including forecasts of changes in sales, margin, and unit demand with markdown recommendations.
• Monitor performance by reviewing actuals against projections and adjust markdown strategy to meet targets in collaboration with Planning team.
• Develop and maintain standard and ad-hoc analyses for monitoring SKU, category, and department markdown financial results.
• Identify trends and leverage analyses to inform future plans and forecasts.
• Support development/implementation of new markdown pricing optimization tools and processes.
• Support change management through partnerships with Planning and Buying.

Markdown Optimisation Analyst

Location: Poznań, wielkopolskie, PL, 60-479

Your key responsibilities will be:

• Set and provide guidance on optimal markdown parameters.


• Set and provide rules based on category financial plans.


• Determine optimal markdown strategy.


• Recommend and execute optimized, progressive clearance markdowns or multi-buy promotions maximizing profit and sell-through, including utilizing forecasts of changes in sales, margin, and unit demand with markdown recommendation.


• Monitor performance: review and validate actual performance against projections and expectations to identify underperforming items or categories and adjust markdown strategy to meet financial targets (partner with Planning team).


• Develop and maintain standard and ad-hoc analyses for use in monitoring and reviewing SKU, category, and department markdown financial results compared to plan.


• Identify trends and leverage analyses to formulate future plans and forecasts.


• Supports development/implementation of new markdown pricing optimization tools and processes.


• Support change management through partnership with key cross-functional business areas such as Planning and Buying.

Skills and experience we are looking for:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Price and Inventory Management or Merchandise Planning; experience in a retail environment is preferred.


• Master's degree, preferably in Economics, Product Management, Production Management, Mathematics, Commerce, or another relevant technical field.


• Excellent proficiency in MS Excel (essential).


• Very good knowledge of MS Word and MS PowerPoint (experience with Power BI is a plus).


• Knowledge of Microsoft Power add-ins (e.g., Power Query, Power Pivot) is a plus.


• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.


• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
