Work on brands that are loved and improve the lives of our consumers and the communities around us. We are driven by our purpose: to make sustainable living commonplace, and it is our belief that doing business the right way drives superior performance. At the heart of what we do is our people – we believe that when our people work with purpose, we will create a better business and a better world. At Unilever, your career will be a unique journey, grounded in our inclusive, collaborative, and flexible working environment. We don’t believe in the ‘one size fits all’ approach and instead we will equip you with the tools you need to shape your own future.

JOB PURPOSE

Unilever is the place where you can bring your purpose to life with the work that you do – creating a better business and a better world. If you are an LCA specialist energized by translating complex environmental data to help inform high‑impact programmes and drive emission reductions across a dynamic foods portfolio and supply chain context then this role is just for you!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Join Unilever’s Procurement Sustainability team within the Foods Business Group, where you’ll help shape the future of sustainable sourcing. Our food ingredients portfolio spans cereals, starches, coconut oil, dairy, palm oil, rapeseed oil, soy oil, sugar, coffee, tea, vegetables, and herbs. As the LCA Lead, you’ll lead the development and application of Life Cycle Assessment methodologies tailored to Unilever’s direct supply chain. Your work will inform procurement strategies and Scope 3 emissions roadmaps across both FLAG (Forest, Land and Agriculture) and non‑FLAG decarbonisation agendas. This is a global role requiring close collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners to deliver robust agricultural and product footprints. You will work closely with the Regenerative Agriculture regional programme leads, the Climate Procurement team, and the Impact & Assurance team.

  • Lead the evolution of LCA models to support Unilever’s FLAG and non‑FLAG decarbonisation strategies.
  • Serve as the technical lead for all LCA‑related inquiries within the Foods Business Group.
  • Collaborate with portfolio buyers and supplier teams to co‑develop decarbonisation roadmaps.
  • Leverage primary and secondary data from regenerative agriculture interventions to guide future programme design, whilst guiding in parallel the prioritisation of specific interventions for non‑FLAG emissions.
  • Document footprinting methodologies and processes to ensure replicability and verification.
  • Identify and resolve data inconsistencies, capturing learnings to improve future modelling.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s or PhD in Life Cycle Assessment, Environmental Sciences, Industrial Ecology, Agriculture, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) and agricultural systems, ideally within industry.
  • Hands‑on experience modelling agricultural emissions and on‑farm practices across diverse contexts.
  • Familiarity with soil carbon sequestration modelling.
  • Strong analytical capabilities using Excel and LCA software are required. Programming skills in Python or R are valuable for scaling analysis across our portfolio, but not essential for candidates with exceptional LCA expertise.
  • Experience with science‑based target (SBTi) and net‑zero frameworks.
  • Experience with spatial analysis or geographic information systems (GIS) to inform supply chain mapping, spatial variability across our sourcing contexts, and the development of regional LCAs.
SKILLS :

Technical skills:

  • Deep understanding of agricultural production systems and supply chain environmental impacts.
  • Expertise in LCA standards and methodologies (ISO 14040/14044, PEF, GHG Protocol).
  • Proficiency with carbon accounting tools and databases (IPCC, Ecoinvent, Agribalyse, World Food LCA Database).
  • Advanced data analysis using Excel, Python, R, or similar tools.

Knowledge areas:

  • Deep understanding of agricultural greenhouse gas emissions sources (enteric fermentation, soil management, fertiliser use, energy consumption, land use change).
  • Familiarity with relevant sustainability frameworks and reporting standards.
OUR OFFER
  • Employment Contract with an annual bonus, a company car, and eligibility for our company shares program.
  • A learning‑focused environment that supports your personal and professional development.
  • Private medical care (Medicover)
  • Retirement package
  • Private life insurance (Unum)
  • Sports package (Benefit Systems)
  • 2 additional vacation days
  • Access to the Unilever employee shop
  • Access to Legimi (e‑book platform)
  • Psychological support via the EAP platform
