Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer Lead to shape the future of Akamai Cloud. You will provide technical and architectural leadership to design, build, and scale our next generation control plane on Kubernetes and cloud-native tech.

You will lead a team, define reliability objectives, and drive a highly available, distributed microservices architecture able to support massive-scale operations with strong collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

10+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Experience building highly available, fault-tolerant production services using Kubernetes.
Strong understanding of Linux internals, containers, and networking.
Code-first approach to operating infrastructure with automation.
Proficiency in Go; Python or Bash for scripting.
Familiar with infrastructure as code tools like Crossplane, Pulumi, Terraform or Ansible.
Experience with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki.

Responsibilities

Contribute to design, development, and operation of Golden Path platform built on Kubernetes and other cloud-native tech.
Provide leadership, support, and mentoring of your team.
Create and maintain SLOs and KPIs with Engineering, Product, and Support teams.
Participate in on-call rotations and guide incident restoration and repair.
Foster an environment that encourages innovation, rapid development cycles, and open communication.
