Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking an experienced Cloud Platform Engineer to lead the Next Generation Control Plane on our Akamai Cloud. You will design, build, and scale highly available microservices across a globally deployed, multi-tenant platform using Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or similar field) or equivalent experience.
• Approach complex problems with methodical curiosity and understand dependencies.
• Experience building and operating highly available, fault-tolerant production services using Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies.
• Solid understanding of Linux internals, containers, networking, and related tech.
• Code-first approach to operating infrastructure, with automation to reduce toil.
• Go programming language; scripting with Python or Bash.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools (Crossplane, Pulumi, Terraform, Ansible).
• Experience using modern observability tooling (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development and operation of a globally-deployed, multi-tenant platform on Kubernetes and cloud-native tech.
• Build automation and tooling to reduce toil, improve deployment safety, and speed incident response.
• Create and maintain SLOs and KPIs, in collaboration with Engineering, Product, and Support teams.
• Participate in on-call rotations and guide restoration of service-impacting issues.
• Foster an environment that supports innovative solutions and rapid development cycles.
