EPAM Systems seeks a Lead LIMS Engineer to provide ongoing support, configuration, and enhancement for Thermo Scientific SampleManager LIMS, ensuring uninterrupted lab operations for a global life sciences client.

You will be the primary SME for the platform, collaborating with lab users and IT teams to maintain a compliant, reliable system that supports R&D, lab operations, and scientific data management. Strong English required; hybrid role in Poland.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience with Thermo Scientific SampleManager LIMS (SaaS, Thermo-hosted).
• At least 1 year of leadership experience.
• Familiarity with SampleManager 21.x versions (incl. 21.3).
• Strong configuration skills using embedded platform tools.

Job description

We are looking for a Lead LIMS Engineer to provide ongoing support, configuration, and enhancement for Thermo Scientific SampleManager LIMS, ensuring uninterrupted lab operations for our global life sciences client.

In this role, you will serve as the primary subject matter expert for the platform, working closely with lab users and IT teams to maintain a compliant, reliable, and continuously improving system that supports R&D, laboratory operations, and scientific data management.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary SME for Thermo Scientific SampleManager LIMS
• Collaborate with the client's lab users and IT teams
• Manage system configurations, user access, and compliance
• Troubleshoot and resolve L2/L3 incidents
• Document processes and changes in line with the client's standards
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the platform

Requirements

• 5+ years of proven hands-on experience with SaaS (Thermo-hosted) versions of Thermo Scientific SampleManager LIMS, including day-to-day administration and support
• At least 1 year of relevant leadership experience
• Familiarity with the latest SampleManager 21.x versions (including 21.3) functionality
• Strong proficiency in SampleManager configuration using embedded platform tools, including Entity Designer, Explorer, and configuration of master data, lookup tables, and custom fields
• Solid working knowledge of SampleManager Visual Workflow Designer for designing, modifying, and troubleshooting business workflows
• Hands-on expertise in SampleManager reporting tools and dashboards, including configuration of standard and custom reports
• Solid SQL skills for data querying, validation, and troubleshooting against the SampleManager data model
• Familiarity with L2/L3 application support activities, including incident, problem, and change management within ITIL-aligned service models
• Strong communication skills in English (C1 level)

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with instrument integration in SampleManager, including parsers and chromatography data system (CDS) connectors such as Chromeleon, Empower, or OpenLab
• Working knowledge of SampleManager REST and SOAP web services for interpreting integration behavior and supporting interface-related tickets
• Understanding of GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, and EU Annex 11 requirements for supporting validated LIMS environments
• Practical understanding and application of data integrity principles (ALCOA+) in laboratory data management
• Awareness of the SaaS shared responsibility model, where customizations and platform-level changes are conducted by Thermo Fisher
