Job summary

Vulcury LLC is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead an early-stage data preparation and data-quality initiative. The primary objective is ensuring datasets are well-structured, well-documented, and ready for downstream development before broader software work begins.

This role will be part-time initially, with a clear path to full-time as the project evolves. You will lead a distributed India-based team of junior developers and/or data scientists, focusing on data rigour and process design

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or data-focused engineering roles.
• Strong proficiency in Python and common data-analysis libraries.
• Demonstrated experience transforming imperfect or unstructured data into reliable, usable datasets.
• Prior experience setting data standards, documentation practices, and quality-control processes.
• Experience managing or mentoring distributed or offshore technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead data readiness and quality initiatives across multiple datasets.
• Develop repeatable workflows for data ingestion, cleaning, documentation, and version control.
• Mentor a distributed India-based team performing data preparation and technical support tasks.
• Translate high-level requirements into clear, actionable work-streams.
• Review outputs and provide feedback to maintain quality and consistency.
