Job summary

Speechify is seeking an experienced Android Team Lead to own core product work and raise how the team operates. This hands-on role requires writing and reviewing code, owning features, and guiding the team toward efficient delivery.

You’ll work across Product, Design, and Engineering to ship high-impact releases with nightly builds for QA, while mentoring engineers early in their careers. You will lead features end-to-end, improve reliability, and ensure code quality with a strong focus on

Qualifications

• > 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team or owning a major surface while staying hands-on.
• > Strong Kotlin, Android, and MVVM architecture knowledge with modern Android tooling.
• > Experience shipping and maintaining long-running background work and audio features.
• > Emphasis on testing and maintainable code; ability to introduce lasting improvements.
• > Proven ability to drive change and guide teams through friction in workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own major features end to end, from design to release with the design team.
• Maintain reliability metrics for key features and monitor quality.
• Review pull requests with constructive feedback and mentorship.
• Unblock the team when blockers arise and decide on best version to deploy.
• Drive process improvements and reduce manual interventions in release flow.
• Plan work to maximize decision-making and minimize unnecessary work.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering early to surface constraints.
