Speechify is seeking a remote Android Team Lead to own core product work and raise how the team collaborates. You will write code, review code, and own features end-to-end while guiding others and shipping reliable releases.

You will help grow a distributed team, ensure testability, and drive efficient processes. The role requires deep Kotlin/Android expertise and a track record of delivering features used by millions of users.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team or owning a major surface while staying hands-on
• Proficient in Kotlin and Android ecosystems, with strong architectural sense
• Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running work
• Strong emphasis on testing and testable design
• Proven track record delivering features people actually use

Responsibilities

• Own major features end to end, from design through release
• Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features
• Review pull requests with actionable feedback
• Unblock the team when blockers occur
• Ensure common components are stable, well-documented, and reusable
• Lead process improvements and roadmap planning
• Drive automatic verification and nightly build quality
• Plan work and balance review loads across the team
• Collaborate with Product and Design to align constraints early
• Mentor junior engineers and support skill growth
