Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior II Platform Engineer Lead to design and develop foundational features for a global AI inference platform. You will lead Kubernetes-based orchestration, authentication, observability, and scalable data-plane APIs for high-performance services.

Qualifications

Experience with distributed systems, cloud-native platforms, and platform engineering.
Experience building internet-facing platform services such as API gateways, ingress layers, reverse proxies, or service infrastructure.
Expertise in cloud-native architectures with containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes).
Experience building scalable, high-performance systems with DevOps practices, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
Demonstrated technical leadership through code reviews and design discussions.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and implementation of platform components for Akamai Inference Cloud, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability.
Drive technical decisions for the domain, selecting tools, frameworks, and architectural approaches.
Lead evolution of platform capabilities including authentication, load balancing, rate limiting, firewall integration, and externally facing API patterns.
Design and improve data plane APIs, including OpenAI-compatible interfaces and other standards.
Define and advance platform observability with metrics, logging, tracing, monitoring, and diagnostics.
Drive capacity planning and scalability strategies to support growth in traffic, models, and regional deployments.
Lead Kubernetes-based orchestration patterns for platform services and mentor engineers.
