Job summary

Akamai Inference Cloud team is hiring a Platform Engineer II to build and maintain platform services for AI inference infrastructure. You will work across data plane APIs, authentication, and multi-tenant security, collaborating with senior engineers to power a globally distributed AI platform.

You will leverage Go, Python, or Java, design robust APIs, and work with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, Akamai Cloud) and Kubernetes in a distributed environment.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in at least one systems programming language such as Go, Python, or Java.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful or gRPC APIs in distributed systems.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, or Akamai Cloud) and Kubernetes concepts.
• Understanding authentication/authorization patterns like OAuth, RBAC, or multi-tenant isolation.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software development practices.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining data plane APIs enabling reliable communication between platform components and inference services.
• Implementing authentication, authorization, and multi-tenant security controls for isolation and compliance.
• Contributing to design and development of platform services emphasizing reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Writing well-tested, well-documented code and participating in code reviews to maintain high engineering standards.
• Supporting operational readiness through monitoring, alerting, and incident response for platform services.
