PROTEGRA in Warsaw is seeking a high-level Lead Accountant to oversee the financial health of our crypto-focused client portfolio. We are a consulting firm specializing in legal and compliance support for the crypto industry based in Warsaw. We provide CASP licensing services, sell ready-made VASP companies, recruit key personnel, streamline business processes, and address the full range of challenges crypto companies face.

The Role

We are looking for a high-level Lead Accountant who understands that crypto accounting is about more than just entries. You'll manage the financial health of our partners, design accounting frameworks for complex transactions, oversee monthly and year-end closes, and lead a small team. This is a role for a tech-savvy professional who can translate blockchain "chaos" into precise financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner Portfolio Management: Manage full-cycle accounting for external fintech and crypto partners, handling high-volume transaction environments. Own client relationships and ensure timely delivery of financial reports.
• Financial Close & Reporting: Coordinate monthly and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and comprehensive financial statements compliant with accounting standards.
• Crypto & Web3 Accounting: Reconcile crypto-to-fiat and crypto-to-crypto transactions, working with exchange statements, blockchain explorers, and complex DeFi transaction systems.
• Advisory & Framework Design: Design custom accounting systems and advise partners on structuring transaction records for MiCA and Polish tax compliance.

Polish Statutory Administration:

• Execute CRBR, NIP-8, and other mandatory filings
• Handle KRS registrations and company data updates
• Prepare comprehensive annual financial statements (Sprawozdanie finansowe)

• Leadership & Mentoring: Supervise and train junior accounting staff, reviewing work quality and m. maintaining high standards.
• Process Development: Implement accounting policies and procedures that strengthen internal controls and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Polish Law Expertise: Deep knowledge of Polish Accounting Act (UoR), VAT, and CIT regulations. Familiarity with MiCA compliance required.
• Fintech/Crypto Experience: 3+ years in accounting for online payments, payment gateways, or crypto-assets. You must understand digital fund flows and have hands‑on transaction reconciliation experience.
• Language Skills:
• Polish: Professional
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel/Google Sheets. Experience with Polish ERP systems. Familiarity with automation tools.
• Education & Certifications: Degree in Accounting or Finance. ACCA, CIMA, or Polish Certyfikat Księgowy certifications are a major plus.
